Get the Materials Tested
You want to get the materials tested before you start removing them and before you dump the debris. Be sure that you aren't tearing into materials that have asbestos, lead, or any other harmful chemicals that could be dangerous for you, or that could be dangerous if they are mishandled and they aren't disposed of properly. Recycle If You Can
You want to recycle whatever you can so it doesn't end up in a landfill, and also to save yourself some money. There are a lot of different ways that you can recycle, and items from glass and metal to wood and old appliances can be reused or repurposed. Just because something isn't ideal to you doesn't mean others don't want it, or that it can't be scrapped. Look at the items that you want to pitch and see what you can recycle or sell before you put them in the dumpster.

Most local trash providers aren't going to let you fil your weekly trash bin with debris from a small project. You want to find a waste option that you can have delivered to your house and then removed when it's full. This can include the following:

- Vinyl waste bag
- Extra trash bin from the waste company
If the dumpster you get fills, you can always have it emptied and then you can refill it again. You can also call a trash hauling service in your area that will come pick up your debris and garbage and haul it to the dump for you. The cost of this service will be dependent on what they charge.
